Summary

“This is a role that calls to you. It is for passionate people.”

As a Program Counselor, the work you do really matters. You make all the difference to people at the tipping point in their lives; helping them find out who they are, see themselves better and love themselves enough to eventually succeed outside the program.

The Role of Program Counselor has different responsibilities in two distinct environments: in the Hospital and in the Village.

The Hospital Program Counselor works one of three shifts, in one of several units, on a team with other Program Counselors and Nurses to provide immediate, stabilizing care. The Village Program Counselor may work as part of the Admissions Team (working with patients for the first 9-11 weeks of care) or the Cabin Team (facilitating the Boys and Girls Cabin-based Program).

No one has more day-to-day patient interaction than Program Counselors, who work, and in the Village, live side by side with patients, monitoring their progress, forging bonds, building rapport, and attending to their emotional and physical needs so that treatment plans can be effective.

Your work is so important to your best life! To help you consider whether becoming a Program Counselor at Peninsula is the right career step for you, we invite you to read on to discover more.
